IT was a bright spell for Lenzie YC at the weekend as they triumphed 4-0.

Lenzie Y.C..................... 4

Scotstoun B.C.................. 0

GADYFL Under 15 1st Division

Lenzie played only their third game of the season on Boghead grass and used the big park to their advantage to open up the play.

However, although they had more of the ball, it was halfway through the first half before they opened the scoring.

A sublime Cory Irvine through-ball put Elliot Paice in and he skillfully lobbed the keeper.

The ever-dangerous Conor McLaughlin linked well with Ross Fraser to get the second, with the hard-working Euan Dover adding two more before half-time.

The pace of the game dropped a bit in the second half and with Scotstoun closing the Lenzie players down quicker, they were not given the space they had in the first period.

Lenzie did create chances, however, but came up against a very competent and determined goalkeeper.

This win now puts Lenzie into a safer league position, just below mid-table.

The referee’s player of the day was Lewis Carroll who got in telling tackles all day.

Lenzie also played league leaders Third Lanark in mid-week and in a very competitive game – where the match seasawed back and forward – Lenzie eventually lost 5-3.
