Festival of football rolls into Lenzie

THIS weekend will see the month-long Lenzie Festival kick-off at the Boghead playing fields.

On Saturday the 1996 age group take centre stage, with league and cup winners Lenzie taking on Bishopbriggs cracks West Park United, East End Boys Club and Caledonia Boys Club from Ayr.

On the Sunday it is the 1997 age group with Lenzie playing against Edina Hibs from Edinburgh, league champions Lenzie Colts and the strong West Dunbartonshire Milngavie Boys Club.

The football starts on both days at noon and goes from sectional games to the finals of both the Champions and Plate competitions.

With both Lenzie sides playing in good standard leagues and quality opposition invited, spectators can expect a good competitive competition.

Favourites in the 1996 age group are the well-established West Park side and in the 1997 competition the very famous Edina Hibs from Edinburgh.

The festival continues thoughout the month with all the Lenzie sides from under-six upwards taking part.
