Football festival in Bishopbriggs was a sparkling success

HUNDREDS of aspiring footballers took to the field and strutted their stuff at a fun-filled festival in Bishopbriggs recently.

Around 600 youngsters pulled on their football boots as East Dunbartonshire FC held its sixth annual football festival at the Allan Glen’s RFC grounds.

Clubs were invited from all over the area and beyond to take part.

Footballers aged five to amateur took part in the festival – which was held over two days on Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17.

Youngsters of all abilities took part and the event was such a success that it will return next year.

Tribute has been paid to the hardy footballers who braved atrocious weather – particularly on the Saturday – to show their skills.

Thanks have also been given to the many local sponsors for their magnificent support – without which the festival could not be such a success.

A range of age groups took part – from 1993s to 2003s. There were also Fun Fours and EDFC Academy tournaments.

East Dunbartonshire FC relies on volunteers to help them provide football opportunities for boys and girls from the age of five to amateur level.
