Future’s blooming bright for Rosebank United

A KIRKINTILLOCH club’s sterling work for grassroots football has been honoured.

Rosebank United has been presented with the Scottish FA Quality Mark Standard Award.

Dougie Wright and Alan Smith from the Kirkintilloch club received the honour at the recent East Dunbartonshire Youth Football Forum.

The award recognises pro-active clubs and schools working to increase youth and community participation.

It is part of the Quality Mark Accreditation Scheme run by the SFA in partnership with McDonald’s and sportscotland.

Clubs and schools receive the award after meeting standards in areas such as coach and player development, management, administration, welfare and planning.

Rosebank United has seven teams with over 100 players aged between eight and 16 years.

The teams play in the East Dunbartonshire Soccer Sevens and the Central Scotland Football Association.

Alan Taylor, SFA club development manager, said: “I am delighted that Rosebank United have been awarded the Standard Quality Mark in recognition of the well-organised structure that the club have – allowing many young children to develop in a positive, safe environment.”

Kevin Murphy, football development officer, added: “I am pleased that Rosebank United have been awarded the Standard Award.

“This award recognises the hard work they have put into this and ensures that good standards are adhered to within the club. Hopefully the club can continue to flourish and develop for years to come”

Dougie Wright said: ”The club are delighted to receive this award and hope that it helps to attract more players to the club. We would also like to thank the people at the Scottish FA for all their help.”
