GOAL-hungry Rob Roy finally return to their league campaign against Pollok this Saturday following an enforced six week lay-off due to cup and international action.
They will be hoping to claim their fifth consecutive league victory and maintain pressure on leaders Auchinleck Talbot – who are currently just four points ahead of Rabs having played a game more.
The gaffer (pictured) said: “This time last year we were out of both cups which shows the progress we’ve made.
“We just have to try and carry that positivity over to the Pollok game which will be another hard match.”
Rob Roy play Pollok at Newlandsfield on Saturday. Kick-off is at 2pm.
Meanwhile, a merciless performance by Rob Roy’s strike force saw the Kirkintilloch club coast into the third round of Scottish Junior Cup on Saturday – after an 11-1 routing of hapless Highlanders Burghead Thistle.
The away match meant hours on the road for Jimmy Lindsay’s squad, but the players lost no time in getting on the scoresheet – taking just nine minutes to score the opener and powering to a 7-1 lead at half-time.
A delighted Lindsay told the Herald: “It was a great all-round performance and I think, above all, the players did a really professional job.
“Going in at 7-1 at half-time it would be easy to come out in the second half and spoil it all. They didn’t do that though and kept on playing until the end.
“It showed when one of the Burghead players got sent off towards the end of the match.
“The boy was just so frustrated he didn’t want to be on the park any more.
“It’s probably the best we’ve played since I got here.”
