Kirkintilloch Rob Roy will be on cup duty this Saturday when they take on Auchinleck Talbot in the third round of the West Of Scotland Cup.
Rabs slumped to an unexpected defeat in the league last weekend to bottom-of-the-table side Arthurlie. The 4-1 defeat leaves the Kirkintilloch side needing a win to ensure Premiere League survival.
The shock 4-1 result was only Arthurlie’s fourth win of the entire season.
Rabs took an early lead but couldn’t drive home their early advantage.
Rob Roy boss Stewart Maxwell said it was one of his team’s worst performances of the season.
He told Herald Sport: “Defensively we just weren’t good enough and the entire spine of the team was poor.
“We may have a young team, but they all now have enough experience to deliver a better performance.
“I’m disappointed for the fans who turned out in force once again.”
Rabs are six points above the drop zone with three games left to play.
Gaffer Maxwell knows Saturday’s cup clash with Auchinleck Talbot will be a tough test.
He said: “We have to get our mindset right, because going down there is never easy.
“We have to take our chances.”
Rob Roy take on Auchinleck at Beechwood Park. Kick-off is at 2pm.
