Rossvale moved two points clear at the top of the Central First Division as they came from behind to win at St Anthony’s on Saturday.

Despite the constant rainfall throughout the first half the pitch was in near perfect condition.

The contest was well balanced with few scoring opportunities but one fell to St Anthony’s Duncan in 26 minutes but his weak effort only managed to ricochet between Jordan Bowskill’s legs before the keeper gathered up the loose ball.

At the other end Fraser Team pulled a left foot effort just wide wide and just before the interval Jason McKay was also only just off target.

Half-time substitute Ryan Kane was a constant threat to the St Anthony’s defence but the home side broke the deadlock against the run of play when a long diagonal ball caught out the Rossvale defence and McKay rifled a shot high into the net at Bowskill’s near post.

Smith missed a great chance to double Ants’ lead but Rossvale kept pushing for an equaliser and got it 13 minutes from time when McKay rose at the back post to head a Hunter cross just inside Baker’s right hand post.

Ina frantic finish Rossvale’s Ryan Coll had a goalbound effort blocked and at the other end Brown was unlucky when his shot hit the post.

Just as the game looked set to finish level Rossvale grabbed the winner when Chris McQuade swung over a corner and Craig McGregor leaped high into the air above the St Anthony’s defence to bullet a header high into the St Anthony’s net, giving Baker no chance.
