SEVEN’S heaven as Lenzie Youth Club beat Celtic Community Club team.
Lenzie Y.C........................ 7
Celtic Community Club............. 2
Under 15 GADYFL Division 1
THIS win lifts Lenzie out of the relegation spot in what was an excellent team performance.
Last-minute illness resulted in Lenzie playing central defender Euan Mackintosh in goal and he did a very good job.
Lenzie dominated the first period and fully deserved their 3-0 half time lead with three cracking goals from Anton Phinn (two) and Corey Irvine.
Celtic, having had a half-time rocket, came out more determined in the second half, but Lenzie got a vital fourth – scored by the hard-working midfielder Euan Dover. Celtic pulled a goal back, but Euan Dover rattled in three more goals.
Celtic scored late in the game, but it was an emphatic win for Lenzie and a good start to the new year.
This week Lenzie are away to Barrhead Boys’ Club in the Regional Cup. Referee’s player was four-goal Euan Dover.
