Nearly two months without a game for Bishopbriggs juniors side
FRUSTRATED Rossvale FC saw another weekend of football blown away as the elements conspired – once again – to rob them of the chance of competitive action.
The junior side have now gone seven weeks without a match and gaffer Ian Gray can’t wait to get stuck in.
Saturday’s match was supposed to be an away fixture against Johnstone Burgh, but the game was called off on Saturday morning.
While it was no surprise – as Burgh have not played a home match since August – that didn’t temper Gray’s frustration at another weekend without a game.
He said: “It’s a farce. They haven’t played a home fixture since August 20.”
Adding to the frustration, attempts to organise a friendly on Saturday were unsuccessful, with teams only finding out on Saturday morning if their games were cancelled or not.
Gray said: “It has been seven weeks since we played a game, which is not ideal. Seven weeks is a long time not to have a game, the boys are bound to be a bit rusty.
“We are still training, but it’s no substitute for games.”
At least Saturday’s home game against Newmains United looks a cert to go ahead.
Kick-off is at 1.45pm and Vale aim to pocket all three points against the Lanarkshire opposition.
