ROB Roy stood firm for an hour on Saturday before crumbling to second-half pressure.

With both defences looking comfortable neither keepers were tested in the opening period and it was 16 minutes before Talbot’s Leishman was called into action – safely collecting a McBride corner before the Rabs strikers could pounce.
The home side were making and wasting goal-scoring opportunities. Gormley sent a shot wide when through on goal then McKay drove over the bar before Coakley blazed the ball high over the bar.
Rabs shot-stopper Robertson did well to punch a Spence corner clear in a crowded goalmouth as the visitors threatened. Talbot made strong appeals for a penalty when Latta went down in the box, but referee Steven was well placed and waved play on. Talbot should have taken an interval lead when Milliken, in front of goal, rose unchallenged to head a cross from the left past the post.
Two minutes after the break Gormley failed to control the ball as he ran through the Talbot defence and another chance was lost.
Minutes later the striker was unfortunate to see a well-struck drive go narrowly past the post. The visitors opened the scoring on the hour mark when McCann dashed down the left flank into the penalty box before sending an angular drive into the corner of Robertson’s net.
Auchinleck increased their lead in the 68th minute when Milliken collected the ball 22 yards from goal before sending a powerful volley flashing past Robertson. McCann came close to adding a third, but his shot slipped past the post. Rabs were now less of an attacking force and found it difficult to break through a well-organised Talbot defence. Gormley made a couple of raids up front, but his efforts came to nothing.
Victory was confirmed when Milliken scored his second and Talbot’s third in the 83rd minute with a low drive. A minute later Pope was only inches away from making it four as the Ayrshire side cantered towards the finishing line.
