The first real chance of the match came Rob Roy’s way in the seventh minute when hesitancy by central defender Jordan gave Mackie a goal-scoring opportunity, but the big striker failed to beat keeper McNeill with his lob.
Midway through the half, Peasy began to push Rob Roy back. Donnelly did well to block a Green effort for a corner before McGregor drove wide.
The home side were awarded a soft penalty in the 27th minute when Andrews was adjudged to have tripped McGladrigan in the box, spotted by the stand-side assistant. McGregor’s poorly struck spot-kick was easily saved by Robertson diving to his left.
Finnigan made a chance for himself when he stormed into the home penalty box, but over-ran the ball for a goal kick. Rabs took the lead in the 36th minute when an accurate McAleenan pass found Chris Mackie, who took a couple of paces before squeezing a shot between McNeill and the post from 10 yards. Petershill almost equalised a minute before the break when Hadden released Finnigan, but he drove narrowly past the post.
A Burke cross deep into the visitors’ penalty area caused problems in the Rabs defence before Fulton eventually scrambled clear. The Springburn side then levelled in the 65th minute when Burke was given space down the left side to slide the ball over to McGladrigan, who slotted the ball into the back of the net from close range. The Rabs response was a Carter strike from distance which went wide.
Stephen McGladrigan was proving a handful for the Rob Roy defence and the Peasy frontman was unlucky to see his angled drive crash against the base of the post with Robertson beaten.
Petershill exposed woeful defending with two goals in two minutes when uncertainty between McLachlan and Robertson allowed substitute Woods to nip in and score easily from a yard out with the Rabs defenders appealing for offside. Then in the 78th minute the game was killed off when Andrews failed to deal with a high ball, giving McGladrigan the chance to set up Dickson to power a low shot into corner of the net. From then on Peasy looked comfortable and only the legs of keeper
Robertson prevented McGladrigan from making it four in the 88th minute.
