KIRKINTILLOCH Rob Roy have unveiled their latest signing – the town’s Rangers supporters.
Rob Roy will be sponsored by the Kirkintilloch Rangers Supporters Club and Clyde Scaffolding for the 2011/12 season.
Rob Roy general secretary Charlie O’Brien said: “We’d like to thank both of them for their support, it’s much appreciated.”
Pictured at Adamslie Park (from left) are Rob Roy vice president Jim Letham, the treasurer of the Kirkintilloch Rangers Supporters Club Ian Johnston and Rabs’ general secretary Charlie O’Brien.
Meanwhile, Robert Donnelly – Rob Roy’s new central defensive signing from Ayr United – will go straight into the starting eleven this Saturday as the club begin their 2011/12 Emirates Scottish Cup campaign.
Rob Roy travel to Dyce in Aberdeenshire for the first round of the competition often dubbed ‘The Holy Grail’ of junior football.
And Rabs manager Jimmy Lindsay believes former Motherwell defender Donnelly (24) has all the necessary attributes to shore up a defence which has conceded an average of more than two goals per game this season.
Lindsay said: “He’ll be a massive asset to the team. He wants to win the ball and is a good passer of it when he does.”
The Kirkintilloch gaffer travelled to Dyce on Saturday to watch them in action.
He said: “They look a reasonable standard but it’s how we play that’ll determine whether we are still in the cup or not.”
Kick-off at Dyce this Saturday is 3pm.
