Kirkintilloch Rob Roy will aim to reach the Sectional League Cup semi-finals when they face Clydebank tonight (Wednesday).

A repeat of last season’s quarter-final victory over Bankies would put Rabs in the last four for the second year in a row.

But the tie at Guy’s Meadow is arguably not even the most important match of the week for Stewart Maxwell’s side who kick off their Super League season on Saturday with another home match against Largs Thistle.

Maxwell admitted: “All roads lead to Saturday.

“I want to win every game we play and each match we play is important.

“Rob Roy haven’t won a cup for 20-odd years and that’s something we’d love to put right.

“But the league is our priority.

“We know it’s going to be difficult on Saturday. Like ourselves Largs have bounced back after relegation and are part of a large Ayrshire contingent.

“They are all well organised, well financed and well structured clubs and the Central clubs will have their work cut out.

“It’s important that we stay in the top league as we get ready to move back into our own stadium.

Rossvale begin their Central First Division campaign on Saturday when they travel to Bellshill Athletic.

It means a return to his old club for ex-Bellshill boss Brian McGinty who is in his first full season in charge at Rossvale.
