Rob Roy’s ten-match unbeaten run came to an end when they were out-performed by a classy Clydebank side.

It was the visitors who dominated much of the opening period, Rabs’ keeper Robertson did well to dive low and push away a McPherson header before Bankies’ Moffat cracked a fierce shot inches past the Rob Roy upright.

Rabs’ first real chance came in the 16th minute when Chic Connolly rounded keeper Hamilton but his shot was cleared off the goal-line.

Clydebank’s early promise was rewarded in the 21st minute when a cross was floated in from the right wing for Gold to rise at the back post to nod the ball past Robertson to put his side one ahead.

Rabs expected response failed to materialise with Bradley’s weak effort going wide and Diack’s shot deflected through to Hamilton. McPherson should have added to Bankies lead in the 34th minute but Robertson did well block the strikers shot as he ran on in goal.

As half-time approached Rabs were seen more of an attacking force with Diack flashing a shot across the penalty area and C. Connolly firing over the bar.

Two minutes in to the second half Rabs passed up a glorious chance to equalise when with the goal at his mercy Connolly shot wide.

Diack had a powerful shot blocked and McLachlan sent a volley over the bar as the Adamslie Park battled for parity, but it was Clydebank who doubled their lead in the 63rd minute with a carbon copy of the first goal, Andrew sent over a cross from the right to McPherson to send a looping header in at the back post.

Two goals in front, Clydebank were now looking to kill off the game with Berry then Gold off target.

However, they did seal the points in the 85th minute.

Robertson blocked a McPherson shot and Andrew failed to make proper contact with the loose ball which fell to Hailstones who drilled the ball home.

Rob Roy: Robertson, McLachlan (Hunter 63), McVey, Smith, Henderson, C. Connolly, K. Connolly (Ohakam 76), Meechan, McAleenan (Easton 63), Diack, Bradley. Unused Sub: Brown.
