Rob Roy cruised into the third round of the cup with an emphatic victory over Central League Division Two strugglers Royal Albert.
Albert had an unfortunate start to the game when Strang limped off injured in the first minute. Rabs went in front in the seventh minute when from a Gormley pass Iain Diack netted easily from close in. Nine minutes later Rabs doubled their lead – again it was Gormley the provider and Diack the predatory finisher. A minute later Diack had his hat-trick when he nodded home a Love corner.
Five minutes into the second half, Albert had the ball into the Rabs net but it was ruled offside.
With the visitors showing signs of fatigue Rabs completely dominated the final half hour with Diack rising unchallenged to glance a header from a Alan Lindsay corner into the bottom corner of the net to make it 4-0 before running through to slip the ball past keeper Smith to increase his personal tally to five.
The Adamslie side were looking threatening every time they went forward and it was no surprise when Gormley made it six with a 25-yard chip. Matters were made worse for Royal Albert when Referee Napier took exception to remarks made by McGill and prompty showed him a straight red card.
Rabs grabbed a fortuitous seventh goal in the 70th minute when a Coakley effort glanced off keeper Smith before spinning off the bar then landing in the back of the net.
The goals kept coming – Jamie Lindsay made it eight with a clever lob over the advancing Smith then Coakley made it nine from the spot after Easton was fouled in the box. Coakley then completed his hat-trick and the demolition in the final minute when he hammered home another penalty kick to take Rabs’ tally into double figures.
