Vale of Leven 1

Rossvale 4

New-look Rossvale ran out worthy winners in their curtain raiser with Vale of Leven, thanks to a fine hat-trick from striker Fraser Team.

The former Rob Roy man bagged a first-half brace before following up with his third with around twenty minutes to go.

Yamikani Misanjo also got on the scoresheet, while marquee signing Robbie Winters got in on the action by laying three of the four goals.

This was a tricky start to the season for Rossvale as Vale of Leven has been a difficult venue in previous seasons.

However, Rossvale flew out the traps early and saw early efforts from Winters and Pedram Ardalani come close.

Play went from end to end, with Vale playing some good football, but it was a nice piece of one touch football in the 17th minute which opened the scoring.

Ralph Gamba played a wonderful ball down the right wing to Yamikani Misanjo whose tremendous cross found Team who turned the ball past the keeper from 10 yards out.

Rossvale then took over the game and soon went two up with a carbon copy of the opener.

Ardalani found Winters down the right with the veteran picking out the unmarked Misanjo who headed home with ease.

Vale then scored a penalty moments later of the second goal; however, with the referee unexpectedly pointing to the sport.

The game was now on and in the 34th minute Robbie Winters went on a mazy run and put the ball past from close range.

But it didn’t take Rossvale long to extend their lead with Gamba and Winters combining well to set up Team for a fine first-touch finish.

Though the pace dropped throughout the second half, Rossvale later completed the scoring with another display of one-touch football in the 68th minute.

Winters, Misanjo and Hepburn all had a hand in the move which gave Team the opportunity to slide the ball home for his third of the game.

Team then squandered a chance for his fourth as he ran through on goal with the keeper before lifting the ball over the top.

Nevertheless, Rossvale remained comfortably in charge of the game and were rarely threatened throughout.

They will now look ahead to this Saturday’s tie with Royal Albert with a trip to play Forth Wanderers scheduled for the week after.

Kick off this weekend at Petershill Park is set for 2pm.
