Hares consolidate league leadership with hard-fought win

Harestanes continued their drive towards achieving the league championship with a hard fought victory against their local rivals.

Harestanes took an early lead in the second minute. Broadfoot sent a neat cross into the box, Young collected the ball was in the back of the net. Campsie were unlucky not to equalise when their big number nine was clean through, his low shot had the keeper beat but hit the post.

They did equalise through an uncharacteristic mistake from the reliable Oliver. He got caught and lost the ball in the middle of his own half, allowing the Campsie forward to have a clear run in.

Harestanes took the lead with Young’s second. Broadfoot put in the cross, Hamilton headed on for Young to put an overhead kick into the net.

Campsie came back at them courtesy of the penalty spot, straight down the middle.

Halftime came with nothing between the sides and all to play for in the second.

Harestanes’ third came from a Fitzsimmons free kick which came off the head of a Campsie on its way in.

Harestanes were determined to retain their advantage, they shut up shop. Campsie kept coming at them, they did have chances but were unable to make them count.
