Kirkintilloch Thistle 0
Harestanes clinched a place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday with a 3-1 over Kirkintilloch Thistle.
Derbies are invariably tough and this was no exception.
Thistle fought hard to achieve a result and made Hares work for their fourth round slot.
Thistle’s game plan worked until well into the second half, as Harestanes struggled to convert the barrow-load of chances they had to kill the game.
The tie turned when Calum Young came on in the second half.
Harestanes took the lead in the 10th minute. Broadfoot played into Fitzsimmons and he turned to create an opening and leather the ball into the corner.
The rest of the half was almost constant pressure from Harestanes and determined defending by Thistle.
Harestanes created chance after chance but could not find the net.
Thistle were looking to snatch an equaliser, but Young came to the rescue for Hares when he took the ball wide on the left, cut to the by-line and laid it into the path of Fitzsimmons to slot home.
A Marshall free-kick settled the match, helped into the net by a deflection from a Thistle defender.
