FUN runners and families are being invited to join Kirkintilloch Olympians for a 5k fun run at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld, on Thursday, August 18.
This annual run is held on a nearly flat scenic course – including a circuit of Broadwood Loch – and is designed to encourage those who have not entered athletic events before to enjoy the thrill of a ‘race’.
Organised by Kirkintilloch Olympians, the run is open to anyone 13 years or over, of any running ability.
All finishers will receive a special memento to mark the club’s 20th anniversary.
Race organiser,Robert Rogerson said: “We hope that many local runners and joggers will come along and participate in this fun event.
“It is organised like a club race, but the atmosphere and spirit is one of fun. “There will be a good cross-section of running abilities so everyone should have a chance to compete alongside others.”
The 5k run is part of the club’s athletics development programme and in the past few years has attracted several hundred runners from across the west of Scotland, including local JogScotland groups.
The race starts at 7.30pm outside Broadwood Stadium.
Entry forms and details can be found at the Olympians website – www.kirkintillocholympians.co.uk
The race is limited to 250 runners and the entry fee is just £2.
There will be changing facilities – including showers – available at the stadium.
