Local junior teams had plenty to celebrate this week after impressive winning performances in the Scottish Cup last weekend.
Both Rob Roy and Rossvale secured crucial away wins to march into the next round of the competition.
In the second round ties Rabs beat Pumpherston 2-0 and Rossvale knocked out Fraserburgh with an emphatic 3-1 victory.
Rob Roy manager Stewart Maxwell said: “We didn’t play as well as I know we can, especially in the first half. The crosses were poor, but at the end of the day it is all about winning and getting through to the next round.
“For the pressure we were put them under we could have scored more goals.”
However, Maxwell did admit that they controlled the second half better, adding: “We managed to grind out two goals in what was a very physical game against opponents who never really threatened us.”
Meanwhile, Rossvale boss Martin Lauchlan said: “I am delighted with the result. Fraser Team’s hat-trick was excellent.
“It took the lads 15 minutes to get into the game, but I put that down to the long four and a half hour drive to get there. We left at 7am.”
He added: “It was not the best performance but much of that was down to the very windy conditions.”
