Campsie Minerva 7
Duncanrig AFC 0
West Of Scotland 3rd Round
Minerva were back on cup duty on Saturday and welcomed East Kilbride side Duncanrig to Ferguson Park in the West Of Scotland Cup.
After last week’s disappointment Minerva were back to winning ways and produced a clinical display that blew their opponents away.
Club captain McGregor opened the scoring for Minerva heading home from a Duff corner.
Goal number two soon followed when, from a Hutton cross, a Duncanrig player scored in his own net.
From another Duff corner McGregor grabbed his second goal of the game to make it 3-0 with another fine header.
Minerva’s high tempo and excellent use of the ball was making life very difficult for Duncanrig.
Minerva punished the visitors even more with Stewart grabbing a quick double to make it 5-0.
He calmly slotted home his first picking up on a well-timed Kemmit pass, and grabbed his second from a great Howat cross.
Shortly before half-time Minerva made it 6-0 when Howat made a late run into the box and slotted the ball home from close range.
With the game wrapped up Minerva had a comfortable second half, which allowed them to utilise their subs and give some players some much needed game time.
Mackie added goal number 7 midway through the second half with a cool header from a Howat cross.
This was a clinical performance from Minerva whose ball retention and finishing were far better than the week before.
They now face a tricky test in the next round after being drawn away to Gartcosh United of the Caledonian League.
Next week Minerva are back on league duty and on their travels to play Motherwell side Colville Park AFC.
