McKenna puts Watch on the road to victory

Campsie Black Watch 4 St Mungo 2 BLACK Watch defeated St Mungo 4-2 in a league game at Lorretto Park last Monday night.

Watch could not have asked for a better start going ahead in the 8th minute when Allison's corner was turned past keeper Bain by McKenna.

Three minutes later it was 2-0, with Bingham brilliantly heading a McGregor free-kick powerfully into the net.

Blackies were in command at this stage with McGilvary and Smith dominating the centre of midfield.

Saints were doing their utmost through Charalambous and Brown to turn the game around.

Reid made it 2-1 in the 33rd minute when Dignam, taking a Jamieson pass, eased the ball past Watch defender Bell, then beat keeper McKegney from 15-yards.

Poor defending cost Blackies another goal before the interval, with Brown driving in from the right to hit a shot from 25-yards.

The game was now in full flow with both sides battling for supremacy.

Watch got the break they needed when Smith played a great pass over the half way line for Bingham to volley an unstoppable shot past keeper Bain from 20-yards in the 57th minute.

Saints tried in vain to hit back, but were now finding Blackies defence holding firm and a Watch side that was stronger all round.

McKenna made it 4-2 in the 74th minute when good play from Freedman and Tullis let the striker in to net.

Once again this was another fine game between the local sides.

Campsie Black Watch: D McKegney, S McGregor, D Friel, C Bell, M Cole, J Allison, A Smith, J McGilvary, G Maguire, D Bingham, G McKenna. Subs: M Reilly, S Freedman, S Tullis.
