BROTHERS Greg and Euan Watson from Bishopbriggs are celebrating after attending the Scottish National Swimming Championships at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

Both Boys swim for Milngavie and Bearsden Swimming Club, training under head coach Craig Houston for up to 14 hours a week. Greg (16) took part in 10 events throughout the championships and finished in the top 10 for the majority of his events.

In a thrilling 100m Breaststroke final for the 16/17-year age category Greg narrowly missed out on a medal with only 1.5 seconds separating the top four swimmers in Scotland.

Greg also succeeded in smashing three of his previous personal best times to qualify for the British Championships which are taking place in Sheffield in July – this achievement will see Greg compete against the top swimmers in the country.

Younger brother Euan (13) also rose to the occasion and smashed his previous personal best time in the 100m Breaststroke by two seconds.

Euan also took part in the 4x100m Individual Medley Relay and had the task of bringing the team home. Taking a very respectable two seconds off his 100m freestyle time, Euan helped bring the team home in 12th place overall, with a six-second improvement overall in their previous time.

Both boys devote the majority of their spare time, when not attending Bishopbriggs Academy and completing school, work to training with the team at the Allander in Bearsden and are delighted to see their commitment and hard work paying off.
