Kirkintilloch Bowling Club’s Allan Barrie is looking forward to the 2016 bowling season after his achievements last year.
Allan was the captain of the Dunbartonshire County under-25 team that won the Scottish Cup for the first time in 2015.
He also achieved personal glory by winning the Scottish National Junior Singles, the first time a representative of the club has won a national competition and the first single handed winner from the national bowling district. Allan rounded off a successful season winning the local Kirkintilloch and District Champion of Champions.
Kirkintilloch Bowling Club president John Campbell said: “Allan is an inspiration to the young players in our club and also those throughout the district.
“It is the first time in our 126 year history that our club has a national title winner and we all hope that Allan can continue his success as Scotland’s representative in the British Isles Championships in Wales.”
The championships will be played at Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club Wales and Allan’s first game will be against England’s representative Jamie Barker from St Neots Bowling Club on Friday, June 30, with Jordan Davies from Harlequins Bowls Club, representing Wales, awaiting the winner.
Allan is pictured with the Scottish National Junior Singles Trophy which was presented to him by the Bowls Scotland Lady President Janice Grant who was a past president of Kirkintilloch Bowling Club.
