A GOLFER who first tasted success at Kirkintilloch Golf Club is taking the US tour by storm.
Martin Laird (28) recently landed the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational title in Florida – his second PGA tour win since joining in 2008.
The Scot, who has been tipped as a future major winner, was a junior member at Kirkintilloch Golf Club where he won the Fletcher Cup, a knock-out junior competition, in 1995. He also teamed up with dad Charles in the Leonard Trophy family four-ball – finishing in the runners-up spot.
His recent win has brought his season earnings up to more than £1.8million and has seen him rise to 21st in the world rankings. He takes to the famous fairways of Augusta this week in the US Masters.
