Rob Roy’s new management team were given a baptism of fire on Saturday after being parachuted in for a cup semi-final with just two days notice.

Co-managers Jimmy Lindsay and Derek Frye were meant to be in charge until the end of the season, but unexpectedly left shortly before the game against Perthshire.

New manager Stewart Maxwell, a former Rob Roy player, took charge alongside Billy Thompson and Paul Ronald, but the trio couldn’t guide their new charges to the West of Scotland Cup final - with the game ending in a 4-1 defeat.

Maxwell promised “big changes at the club next season”.
