Victory against Ardeer Thistle on Saturday will put Rob Roy second in the West of Scotland Super League First Division.
But according to Rab’s gaffer Stewart Maxwell this will be no easy task - even though Ayrshire side Ardeer are fighting for survival at the bottom of the league.
The Rabs are keen to get back into action after last weekend’s cancelled league cup game away to Johnstone Burgh - due to a waterlogged pitch at Keane Park.
Maxwell said: “It was disappointing not being able to play because we had built up some momentum and were on a roll.
“Ardeer will be fighting to stay up. They have six games left to play, and need to win probably three or four of them. They will be scrapping for every point and this will make them dangerous.”
However Rob Roy have a strong team and Maxwell reckons his squad are up to anything that Ardeer can throw at them.
He said: “We have a good team and have been on a good run of wins recently. It will be a tight, tough game as both teams have a lot to play for. We will not be taking anything for granted. If we don’t take our chances we will pay for it.”
April is set to be a busy month for the Rabs. Because of cancellations they have nine games to play. Maxwell said: “There is the potential of us having to play three games a week to clear the backlog.”
