Rabs facing battle to beat the drop

Rob Roy are facing a relegation battle after the latest of four consecutive league defeats saw them slump to third bottom in the league.

Last Monday saw the Kirkintilloch team take on Hurlford United in their last league game of the season.

The players knew that a win would be enough to guarantee premier division football next season.

But they crashed to a 4-1 loss, finishing the game with just nine men on the park.

One player was sent off at the start of the second half, while manager Stewart Maxwell had no substitutes left to replace injured Hay later in the game.

The result meant that Glenafton and Arthurlie were able to leapfrog Rob Roy to safety.

Rabs will now face a two-leg play-off against Shotts Bon Accord - who seem certain to finish third in the Super League First Division.

The away leg will be played first, meaning that the second leg is likely to be the last competitive match ever to be played at Adamslie Park.

The dates of the play-off have not yet been announced.

This evening (Wednesday) will see Rob Roy try to cling on to their final chance of silverware this season - as they take on Lesmahagow in the quarter final of the Euroscot Eng Central League Cup.

The match is being played at Tilework Park, with a 7.15pm kick-off.

It has also been announced that Rob Roy will welcome Rangers to Adamslie Park for a glamour friendly to say farewell to their historic ground.

The game will take place on Sunday, May 18.

Keep an eye on the club’s website at www.robroy.org.uk for the latest.

Meanwhile, the Rob Roy Travel Club are paying their own tribute with a special ‘supporters and fans’ match at the park on Sunday, May 25.
