Redbrae suffer cup KO
BRAE were knocked out of the Bunrigh League Cup in a hard-fought encounter at Cowan Park, Barrhead, on Saturday.
The home side kicked off with the strong wind advantage and had Brae pinned back. Good saves by Brae keeper, Davidson, in the 17th and 18th minute kept the scoreline blank.
The home side took the lead in the 22nd minute when a corner from the right was not cleared very well. When the loose ball was returned into the box, the home centre, who looked offside, shot home from close in.
Davidson was again in action in the 28th minute when he saved a 30-yard shot.
Brae had a chance in the 30th minute when McDonald and Biondi combined to set up Abercrombie, but he shot past the post.
The second half saw Brae go close in the first minute when Biondi was fouled on the edge of the box and McDonald's free kick was deflected inches past the post. They again went close in the 60th minute when McDonald turned his marker in the box, but the home keeper got his fingertips to his shot to turn it onto the post and a defender cleared.
Brae were now on top and Gallacher's header from J. Tanner's free kick went agonisingly an inch past with the keeper beaten. Their final chance came in the 85th minute when the Vics keeper again denied
McDonald when he blocked his 12-yard shot with his feet.
Tomorrow night (Thursday) Brae take on Stirling City in a league match at Merkland with a 6.30pm kick-off.
On Saturday Brae travel to take on Wellhouse, again in the league, with a 2pm kick off.
