Richardson: We can't lose!
ROB Roy's players have been challenged to secure victory over Bellshill this Saturday to go eight points clear of the Lanarkshire club, with a game in hand.
That's the incentive awaiting Rabs as they prepare to take on the team sitting second-bottom of the league.
Gaffer John Richardson knows how important a positive result is in the first game to be played at Adamslie Park in more than three months.
He said: "Saturday's a big day for the whole club, it's one of those 'don't lose' situations.
"We're looking for a win, a draw we could take – but lose and there will be eyebrows raised."
Rabs achieved a comfortable 2-0 West of Scotland Cup win at Renfrew last Saturday.
Richardson said: "If we'd played half as well the week before in the Scottish Cup then we'd be in the next round for both cups.
"But Renfrew was a good result and that's us in the last 16."
The Rob Roy gaffer has added released Hamilton Accies attacking wide players Stuart Mills (19) – who made his debut at Celtic Park last season – and Gary Gow (20) to the squad until the end of the season.
Richardson added: "Stuart came on as a sub on Saturday and they've both added a freshness to the place."
One player heading in the opposite direction is midfielder Billy Jones, who's been allowed to leave the club.
But Richardson denies this is as a result of Jones' red-card in the Scottish Cup tie at Largs for kicking out at ex-Rabs player Ryan Deas.
Richardson said: "It's nothing to do with the red card. That's people putting two and two together and coming up with five, it's miles from the truth.
"Billy just wants to play and he goes with our best wishes, he's done a cracking turn for the club over the past two years.
"He will not be without a club for long."
Ninth-placed Rob Roy play Bellshill Athletic in the Superleague Premier Division this Saturday at Adamslie Park, kick-off 2pm.
Meanwhile, Petershill assistant manager Brian Wright has labelled Saturday's home league clash against bottom club Vale of Clyde "a must win".
A last-minute Martin Lauchlan strike gave Peasie a welcome 3-2 win at Cumnock in the second round of the West of Scotland Cup last weekend, but Wright has no doubt where the club's priorities lie.
Wright said: "Vale of Clyde really is a must-win if we're serious about staying in this league.
"The result from Saturday gives us a lift."
Petershill play Vale of Clyde at New Petershill Park this Saturday, kick-off 2pm.
