Rob Roy manager Stewart Maxwell is hoping to recruit a former top-flight striker to lead his side’s attack this season.

The Rabs gaffer is hoping to bring in a ex-professional with experience in Scottish football’s top flight.

Though unwilling to publicly name his target, Maxwell said the striker would play at Adamslie on Wednesday evening in a friendly with Petershill.

He said: “We’ll be fielding a trialist this week who has a proven pedigree at the highest level in the country.

“He’s currently unattached and popped up on our radar. But I won’t take the risk of naming him before we have a done deal.

“We’re hoping he’ll be able to add a little bit of firepower that we need.

“We have young Steven Aitken, whom we feel will get there in time, but I reckon we need someone with experience for the time being.”
