ROB Roy’s bid to jump-start their floundering league campaign has been put on ice – thanks to a combination of weather and cup action.

Rab’s game against Beith was cancelled on Saturday, while this Saturday sees the Kirkintilloch team travel to take on Blantyre Vics in the third round of the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup.

Jimmy Lindsay’s squad have recently dropped from third to fifth in the Premier Division table after claiming only two points from their last three fixtures.

But the players will be thankful that other results went in their favour at the weekend. Third-placed Ashfield and fouth-placed Clydebank lost – leaving Rabs trailing both rivals by just two points with three games in hand.

Rob Roy take on Blantyre Vics on Saturday at Castle Park. Kick-off is at 2pm.
