Running the Lenzie Jog ... in Dunbai?
Ben Fowler
WHEN his team mates decided to take part in the Lenzie Jog – on behalf of the Hearts and Balls rugby charity – one player decided not to let a few thousand miles and the searing Dubai heat stop him joining in.
Ben Fowler took time out from a winter break to complete a 2.5km circuit under a clear, blue sky and in 25 degrees, while fellow members of Lenzie Rugby Club’s S1/S2 team shivered in the slightly cooler Lenzie climate.
Ben set up an on-line Just Giving page for friends and family, and is well on the way to reaching his £250 target.
He said: “Even though I was out of the country I was still committed to the team and the cause.”
Head coach David Mackay added: “It was an outstanding effort by all involved for a well-deserving charity. With Ben’s contribution added to the growing total, the team has now raised over £1,200.”
He added: “We are always pleased to welcome new S1 and S2 players to the squad and would be pleased to support any boys who would like to give rugby a try. It’s a great sport.”
