SCOTTISH rugby legends passed on and their knowledge and tips for the future at Lenzie RFC last weekend.

After a drab summer the sun shone on Lenzie RFC on Saturday as the RBS Rugby Force came to town.

First to welcome Scotland’s rugby stars were the Lenzie Minis. They had training sessions led by recently retired stalwart Chris Paterson who was top points scorer and holds the most Scottish caps.

Chris and Scotland ladies internationalist Heather Lockhart put the minis at ease and helped their coaches with skills sessions, watched by parents, staff from the local RBS branch and Councillor Rhondda Geekie. They also held photo sessions and signed autographs. Chris provided the opportunity for three Lenzie members to participate in a Nationwide ‘catching challenge’ and Lenzie are currently in the lead.

Glasgow Warrior and Scotland flanker John Barclay then took part in a touch rugby challenge as he led his team of under-15s and 16s against a team led by Lenzie coach David McKay. The boys thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lenzie RFC hope that anyone who came along for the first time enjoyed the experience. The club is always happy to welcome new members of all ages.
