Scottish Cup 2nd Round WATERSIDE progressed comfortably, to the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup with an emphatic win over their Ayrshire rivals, despite having to come from behind.

Largs took the lead in the 25th minute from a throw in inside the Waterside half, the ball was worked to the Largs number 9 who fired his shot into the top corner, Barr having no chance.

Man of the match M. Fitzsimmons scored his first of four goals to level the tie, slotting the ball past the keeper at the second attempt.

‘Side continued pushing forward, after the interval. S. Kerr replaced G. Thompson, on the hour mark and ‘Side scored three goals in the next four minutes.

M. Fitzsimmons scored his second, scoring from close range after Hamilton’s initial shot was blocked. M. Fitzsimmons’ hat-trick came from the penalty spot after being fouled by the keeper.

J.M. Kerr scored ‘Side’s fourth goal following a great cross from brother S. Kerr.

J.M. Kerr and S. Fitzsimmons came close in the final 15 minutes, but their efforts were just off target.

M. Fitzsimmons scored his fourth goal and ‘Sides fifth firing home from a well delivered Gannon cross.

Carr scored the sixth goal with two minutes left, tapping in from a M. Fitzsimmons’ cross.

A well deserved win and Waterside will face either Anniesland or Kilmarnock town in the 3rd round.

Waterside will play local rivals Redbrae, next Saturday, 2pm kick off at Merkland.
