ROB Roy gaffer Jimmy Lindsay has blamed “giving away goals” for his team’s third successive loss.
Rabs slumped to league defeat against Petershill after leaking two goals in the first six minutes of the match.
A spirited comeback fell short, with Petershill finishing 3-2 winners in front of the disappointed home supporters.
It followed Rob Roy’s 2-1 friendly loss against Broxburn Athletic and a last-minute Scottish Cup defeat by Bo’ness.
Lindsay said: “They were two goals up purely because of mistakes from us.
“That means that in the last three games we have effectively given away five goals.
“If we had nullified those chances we would still be in the cup and would have been in a better position in the league.
“We have to work out where we are going wrong and stop it now.
“Results elsewhere in the league went our way so we are still in third place, but we should be pulling away.”
This Saturday sees Rabs continue their pursuit of silverware with a Central League Cup second round clash with Vale of Clyde.
Lindsay said: “We are still in two cups and it’s important that we get as far as we can in both.
“We need to get back to the way we were playing earlier in the season and are not far off.
“If it was boxing we wouldn’t be getting knocked out in the third round, we’d be going the distance and losing on points.”
And he hopes that the supporters will forgive the team their recent lapses and turn out in force once again.
He said: “The crowds have been going up, which is great.
“The players and staff at the club can only apologise for the last few results and ask them to keep supporting their local team.”
Rob Roy take on Vale of Clyde on Saturday at Adamslie Park. Kick off is 2pm.
