FRUSTRATED Rob Roy gaffer Jimmy Lindsay saw the weather put his team’s ambitions on hold for the second consecutive weekend on Saturday.

The Kirkintilloch team’s West of Scotland Cup third round tie against Blantyre Vics was cancelled as Arctic weather continued to hit the fixtures list.

Now Lindsay is hoping that the temperatures will ease up for Rabs’ league game against Irvine Meadow this weekend.

He said: “It’s frustrating to have had no competitive games over the last two weeks.

“Having said that, it has given a few of the players time to get back from injury and, apart from one or two knocks, we’re really looking forward to going to Ayrshire and getting a bit of momentum going. We’re still in two cups and have a great chance to finish high up in the league as well.”

Last week saw Rob Roy bid farewell to player Willie McLachlan, and Lindsay paid tribute to the midfielder who is set to emigrate.

Lindsay said: “He’s off to live and work in Australia and intends to keep up his football over there. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Rob Roy are due to take on Irvine Meadow on Saturday at Meadow Park. Kick-off is 2pm.
