LENZIE'S INSIDE JOB

The Lenzie YC 1998s squad kept themselves fit over the 'whiteout weekend' with a series of in-house Futsal matches.

Futsal is the official FIFA version of five-a-side and uses touchlines rather than walls or boards.

A special low-bounce ball also helps players improve their technique.

Lenzie's section co-ordinator Karen Graham said: "We are big believers in Futsal – it creates an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technical skills, as well as ball control and passing in small spaces."

For the record, 'The Reds' defeated 'The Blues' on a penalty shoot-out, with the decisive kick scored by Ben Graham.

DERBY DAZE

Lenzie Academy S1s have landed a local derby at home to Kirkintilloch High School in the East Dunbartonshire Schools Cup.

The match is likely to take place in late January.

Mr Imrie's side have also lined up what should be a tough challenge match on January 24, against St Maurice's HS from Cumbernauld.
