THIS week reporter Alistair Mackay speaks to former Miss Scotland, Nieve Jennings.
The 20-year-old from Bishopbriggs won the prestigious competition in 2007 and has enjoyed a whirlwind year representing her country all over the world.
The talented singer, dancer and actress has an HND in musical theatre, competed in Miss World in
China and was also named Miss UK.
How has your year as Miss Scotland been?It has been the perfect year and I have loved every single minute of it.
So many positive things have happened to me in the last 12 months and I've met so many wonderful people.
I don't regret it is all over, though, as it was time to let someone else experience what I have.
Was there a particular highlight? It's difficult to pick out one thing in particular as I've had such a great time.
However, I suppose representing my country at Miss World is something I never dreamed I would do.
My entire time in China was sensational, and I especially enjoyed performing Loch Lomond to people from all over the world.
Did you get a lot of people recognising you in the street?Absolutely, and it still happens today..
But everyone has been so lovely to me.
They stop me and congratulate me for what I've done and ask if they can get a photograph taken with me.
The support I've had from my family and friends has been wonderful too and I really appreciate all the help I've been given in the last year.
Was it strange handing over the crown to this year's winner? Not at all as she really deserved it and I know she will have a wonderful year as Miss Scotland.
It was a little bit strange being at the final and not competing, but the plus side was I had more time to enjoy the night.
Last year, because of the nerves and performing and everything else that was going on, I didn't really get the chance to take it all in.
I'd love to take part again but I know that I can't.
However, there will never be another Miss Scotland 2007, which is really special and a great honour for me.
Would you like to take part in similar contests?Possibly, but I'd need to sit down with my mum and talk about it
before I would think about doing anything like Miss Scotland again.
At the moment, I've got so many things planned and my phone hasn't stopped ringing with offers of work that I'm not sure if I'll have the time.
I don't think anything could live up to the experience of being Miss Scotland though.
What do you have planned for the future?I've had a lot of offers in the performing side of things so I should have an exciting time ahead.
I'd really like to get involved in television presenting and I've spoken to a few people who could give me the opportunity to do that.
I'll also have opportunities in singing, dancing and acting, so I could get the chance to do all three things I trained in, which is brilliant.
Would you have considered trying for a career in television before becoming Miss Scotland?A couple of years ago I was set on wanting to dance for the rest of my life, but Miss Scotland has changed all that.
But I'm really thankful for the opportunity as so many doors have been opened.
