East Renfrewshire MP Beats the Street with Calderwood Lodge pupils
Beat the Street is a free community challenge in Newton Mearns and Barrhead to see how far primary schools and activity groups can walk, cycle or run in their area.
Special contact points are attached to certain lamppost around the community and points are collected for each lamppost touched with a card.

Paul Masterton, MP for East Renfrewshire said: “It was great to join pupils from Calderwood Lodge and help them catch current table toppers Kirkhill! This is a great initiative to get kids, families and even teachers more active. Best of luck to all those taking part, remember every point counts. “
Gavin Fry, P.E Coordinator – Calderwood Lodge P.S added: “‘Beat the Street’ has been a wonderful initiative in getting our children and their families active around the local area. They have loved coming together to walk, scoot and cycle to help accumulate points for the school by tapping the ‘beat boxes’ located throughout Newton Mearns and Barrhead.”
