Trial work on lambs gave unexpected results
TRIAL work on the Clyde monitor farm to compare the performance and worm burdens of lambs grazed on chicory with lambs on grass/clover pasture, has yielded unexpected results.
Monitor farmer Andrew Baillie, who has 300 breeding ewes on Carstairs Mains, had first sown chicory in 2012.
Lambs and pre-sale shearling tups grazed on this pasture thrived, encouraging him to undertake an on-farm chicory trial this year.
