Hide AdMandy (42) said: “We had an amazing day; it’s all a bit of a blur.
“We couldn’t stop giggling at each other when we were getting our hair shaved off.
“I’ve really embraced it now; I don’t think I will go back to having really long hair.
“Everyone says that going bald is painless and getting our heads shaved is nothing compared to what people living with cancer are going through.”

“There were plenty of people here throughout the day,” said Mandy. “The stallholders seemed happy and Santa’s Grotto was very busy.
“Everyone in the community really got into the spirit of the event.”
Mandy and Wendy (46) have been friends for 16 years, having met when they both worked at Edinburgh Zoo. Both are now self-employed dog walkers.

Hide AdMandy also revealed that although she has had her head shaved she still has more than husband Mark.
“Mark has really embraced the short hair,” added Mandy. “He is as bald as a coot so I’ve still got more hair than him!
“I’m so glad that we did it. Wendy was more keen to do it than I was. What I am most surprised at is that I’m not wearing a hat now when I’m going out.”
