The show will go on, says EROS Musical Society
EROS Musical Society’s festive take on Sleeping Beauty runs November 17-21, and the long-established Giffnock group was granted permission from East Renfrewshire Council to advertise at Eastwood Toll.
A large banner, costing around £100, was erected at the beginning of October — but within a week, it was missing.

Hide AdLynne Fyfe, marketing representative for EROS, told The Extra: “The council have removed displays before, for example if there’s something on before our show, but generally they’ll be in touch to tell us.
“We have contacted ERC and they haven’t been able to give us any info, and we’ve asked other groups using Eastwood Park, but had no response.
“We’re not sure what has happened to our banner, but if it has been stolen, it’s a shame — these things cost a lot of money to have printed, and a lot of effort goes into the artwork.
“It’s now a worry that it will affect ticket sales, because people aren’t seeing the banner as they are passing the theatre.”

Hide AdLynne reports a drop in sales in comparison with previous years, and the group has appealed to Facebook followers for the return of the expensive ad banner.
However, she added: “The show will go on.
“Having worked very hard to put it all together and to advertise it effectively, it would be a real shame if it was to affect our ticket sales, since we’re the first pantomime kicking off the season at Eastwood Park.
“Sleeping Beauty is going to be very funny, and it’s full of great, modern music that people will be able to sing along to, as well as lots of jokes — there’s something for everyone, so it’s definitely worth coming along.”
