Youngsters have a lightbulb moment
The Junior Genius Competition invited primary two and three pupils to design a product they felt was missing from everyday life, with nine of the designs chosen to be crafted into prototypes by design and technology students from Motherwell College.
The finalists from this area included Baird Memorial PS’s secret room cleaner, a robot that stealthily cleans rooms; Cumbernauld PS’s gooby, a multi-functional room cleaner and mouse catcher; St Mary’s PS’s Pokémon maker, a device that creates made-to-order Pokémon; St Helen’s PS’s sky-high, a machine that supports a child when doing a handstand; Condorrat PS’s tickling machine, a feather duster-armed robotic tickler and Holy Cross PS’s bully buddy, a machine that provides playground support for victims of bullying.
