Cumbernauld faced what, on paper at least, was as tricky a tie as they were likely to be handed – away to Beith Juniors, currently sitting two points off the summit of the west region’s very top tier.
However, as many a commentator has said, no games are ever won on paper, and, after an incredible 5-5 draw, United boss John Queen found himself unexpectedly disappointed not to have recorded the win.

Hide AdKilsyth, on the other hand, faced a somewhat unknown quantity in Bridge of Don Thistle, from Aberdeen, who currently occupy second spot in the north region first division.
The Duncansfield faithful were on the edge of their seats as their team turned on the style to run out six-nil winners and cement their place in the third round.
