The only way is ethics for southsider’s citywide festival

The Only Way Is Ethics runs November 29 - December 6, running in tandem with the first ever Vegfest Scotland (Dec 5-6).

Co-organiser Craig Tannock, a Shawlands resident who runs five vegan venues across Glasgow, explained: “We hope this could become an annual event and help Glasgow to be recognised as a leading centre of ethical thinking around the world.

“The main focus will be on the environment, social responsibility and inclusion and animal rights. But we want to open up a citywide conversation on ethical thinking in general.

“We want the festival to be as inclusive as possible, bringing people together in a safe space for discussions on how we can make Glasgow a better and more responsible place through ethical thinking.”

The line up includes panel sessions on everything from legal issues to funding, films, live music, vegan food tasting and cookery demonstrations.

Main sponsor, Glasgow Caledonian University will host a public debate on positive action to help with the Syrian refugee crisis, and other participants include Chemikal Underground Records, Glasgow Women’s Library, Greencity Wholefoods and Project Ability.

The festival launches on Nov 29 with an opening concert at new venue St Luke’s, with performances from El Hombre Trajeado, Karine Polwart and Ela Orleans — see www.facebook.com/theonlywayisethics for more info.
