Robert Carlyle recently revealed his favourite tracks during BBC’s Tracks Of My Years with Vernon Kay

Robert Carlyle is one of Glasgow and Scotland’s most celebrated actors having portrayed many recognisable characters on the screen in film and television.

The actor famed for roles such as Gaz Schofield in The Full Monty and Begbie in Trainspotting has had an eventful career to date with him recently reprising the role of Gaz for the television series of The Full Monty.

He was born in Maryhill in 1961 and attended North Kelvinside Secondary School before working for his dad as a painter and decorator. Carlyle first became involved in drama at a later age through Glasgow Arts Centre - then going on to graduate from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
