Green light for major development in Robroyston to move forward
Glasgow City Council has backed Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and Caledonian Properties plans for a major new development in Robroyston.
Following a pre-determination hearing, the planning applications committee awarded planning permission in principle for a residential development at Auchinairn Road and a separate scheme for a new roundabout access on Robroyston Road.
This development will provide around 350 new homes, public open space connected by green networks that include new pedestrian and cycle links, pocket parks and an equipped play area.
There will also be the provision of a new community space as well as the associated infrastructure required for a development of this scale.
In addition, through engagement with Robroyston Community Council and Barmulloch Community Development Company (BCDC) approximately five acres of land at Briarcroft will be transferred from Taylor Wimpey to the community.
This will help facilitate a range of new community uses including a garden, exercise area and a memorial.
Taylor Wimpey will also provide safe crossing points over Robroyston Road, which will connect to existing and improved footpath network.
The applications received no local representations opposed to the plans, indeed representatives of the community council and BCDC both spoke at the pre-determination hearing in support of the plans.
It was noted 565 individuals have registered an interest with Taylor Wimpey to be kept updated on the proposals.

If full planning permission is awarded it is anticipated work that will commence in 2022 and is expected to create around 120 direct and indirect jobs during each year of construction.
