Comedy Christmas card from Kirky’s Codi triumphs

We all need a laugh - this year more than usual - and that is what a P7 pupil has provided with her design for East Dunbartonshire Council’s official
Christmas card.

Codi from Holy Family Primary at Kirkintilloch brought a smile to the judges’ faces with her light-hearted look at Santa in the time of covid,
waving cheerily while wearing his EDC branded face
covering.

Provost Alan Brown and Depute Provost Gary Pews were delighted with the standard of entries into the
Provost’s Christmas Card
Design competition this
year.

The judges had a very difficult job settling on a winner and two runners-up.

But it is Codi’s humorous design that will feature on the council’s animated e-card sent to hundreds of people across the area.

It will also feature on
the council’s social media channels.

Although Provost Brown was unable to meet Codi this year to congratulate her and hand over her prize of an artists’ set, he said: “Looking at pupils’ Christmas artwork is always great fun but Codi brought an extra smile this year with her design.

“It is going to look fabulous as an animated electronic card and I can’t wait to start sending it out to my contacts
here and abroad. Well done Codi!

“I want to thank all the schools who entered and I hope the children and teachers enjoyed taking part as much as we enjoyed seeing the results.”

Codi said: “I just thought it would be funny to show Santa as he might look in 2020 on Christmas Eve when delivering toys in East Dunbartonshire.

“I’m happy that other people liked it and I can’t wait to see how it looks as an animated card.

“The printed cards I got
will go to my family and friends and I hope it makes them laugh.”

Holy Family Primary was in the honours again as second place went to Julia in P5 for her depiction of three cute
penguins cooried up in Santa hats.

And third place went to JJ, a P3 pupil from Westerton Primary in Bearsden
whose colourful Christmas baubles caught the judges’
attention.

Codi received a pack of her Christmas cards and an art set, and Julia and JJ also received artists’ sets.
