Kids at Harestanes Primary show they care

Kind-hearted youngsters from P7 at Harestanes
Primary School brought some Christmas cheer to Campsie View Care Home last week.

The children had participated in a project in school where they decorated special cards and hearts for residents and staff at the Kirkintilloch care home.

Around 30 pupils also treated residents to some Christmas carols outside.

Gillian Ola, personal activities co-ordinator at Campsie View said: “Everyone absolutely loved seeing the children and especially hearing them sing.

“They brought some early Christmas cheer into the home.

“The pupils made hearts to hand out to the residents in the home. Because of social distancing, it took place
outside. Residents were able to see the children from the windows.”

Gillian added: “The home handed out sweets to the children because it’s Christmas and to make it a special occasion for the youngsters.”

She said, pre-Covid, the home welcomed pupils from a number of local schools every year for carol singing and residents would attend school Christmas shows.

At present, Campsie View has 52 residents, both men and women, aged between 60 into their 90s.

Gillian added: “It is very important, especially for the residents. We used to have schools and nurseries in every week and we were always out in the community.”
